Dear Neighbor,
It has been an honor to serve as State Representative for 58B the past three years. We have made great strides in mobilizing a progressive Minnesota. We have significantly improved mass transit and transportation and spear-headed economic development within our community. I am confident that your encouragement, support and activism have been key to helping advance these initiatives and our shared vision of a better Minnesota.
While we have made progress, our community and state continue to face extraordinary challenges. That is why today, I am announcing my intention to seek your endorsement to serve as the next state senator from District 58.
As you may know Senator Higgins has chosen not to seek reelection. In running for this seat, I will continue to fight for our district with same dedication. Linda’s commitment to our community for the past 15 years cannot be denied. Her service has left an indelible mark on our state and our neighborhoods. I wish her the best of luck and thank her for her service and leadership.
I am running for State Senator because now, more than ever, we need to fight for the values of a progressive Minnesota. In just one year, the new Republican majority has prioritized restricting civil rights, protected corporations instead of the middle class, and jeopardized our children's futures with cuts to K-12 and higher education,as well as borrowing school funds to pay for our state services. We need to remind Legislative Republicans what our true priorities should be.
First and foremost we need to put Minnesotans back to work. Weneed fair budget policies that ask the wealthiest Minnesotans to pay
a little bit more; we need an education system that sets up Minnesota
children for success; we need to ensure that Minnesotans have access to quality healthcare and affordable housing; and we need to protect fundamental civil rights for all Minnesotans, not just a select few. I will fight for a better Minnesota, and I hope you will support me.
